Darkinjung and Ngarralingayil have had busy starts to the year but both Schools are settled in and ready for the year ahead.
Darkinjung
Roger Young has praised the students for how quickly they’ve settled and how “every student is happy, excited and motivated to learn”.
Kindergarten students have been learning about the S,T and A sounds, the magic words I,A, in, to, the, at and is. As well as writing, ordering and counting numbers from 1 to 5.
Years 1 and 2 have been diligently working on their sight words, reading comprehension skills, the bossy e rule for spelling and writing in either their journal or creating a sizzling start for a story. In Mathematics they have been looking at ordinal numbers and the different ways they can represent 3 – digit numbers.
Ngarralingayil
At Ngarralingayil, the School has grown this year, with 19 children - 9 students in K-2 and 10 students in 3-6!
The students have been busy rotating through learning, cooking, art and sport. As well as learning about the school rules, enjoying stories and singing.
Years 1 and 2 have been great role models both inside and outside the classroom especially in literacy and numeracy groups. Year 3-6 have been establishing routines and been sharing their knowledge of the School, learning some Wonnarua names, working on spelling and concentrating on numbers in Maths.
They also have visited the Hornsby campus since the beginning of the Term, a highlight was the annual Barker Welcome assembly.
