Barker’s celebration of NAIDOC Week (as the official dates fall in our holidays) kicked off with a joyful celebration of Indigenous Cultures. We honoured the 2023 theme “FOR OUR ELDERS” with representation from generations of families in our Community.

It was wonderful to see our students shine with performances from the Junior School, Senior School, Darkinjung and Ngarralingayil and a video sent from Dhupuma, proudly sharing their rich and diverse Aboriginal Cultures with the school community. 

Barker were honoured to have Uncle Willy Nixon sharing an Acknowledgment of Country so beautifully with Michelle and Kyarrah. Watching his reactions and hearing his comments throughout the assembly was an inspiring reminder of how far we have come. 

Thank you to contemporary music artist and proud Gamilaraay man, Mitch Tambo, for bringing the fun and energy with his incredible performance.
